Hourly: You are charged for your mediation appointment by the hour. The time billed will include all time spent by the mediator in the activities related to your case and mediation (before, during, and in some circumstances after your session).
Mediator Rates and Minimum Fees: Each mediator has a different hourly rate and minimum fees per session for all time spent on your case.
Dave Hunter: $300/hr. and his Minimum Fee is 3 hours or $900.
Mikol Rosenbalm: $175/hr. and her Minimum Fee is 3 hours or $525.
Cancelation Fees: You can cancel your appointment at no cost and for any reason at any time, if you do so at least 14 days before your appointment. If an appointment is requested to be cancelled or rescheduled for any reason within 14 days of the date of the appointment, a cancelation fee is immediately due via credit card or VENMO by the canceling party, or one-half by each party if the cancellation is mutual. The cancelation fees are different for each mediator.
Dave: Cancelation Fee and Rescheduling Fee is $900.
Mikol: Cancelation Fee and Rescheduling Fee is $525.
Acceptable Payment Methods: Venmo, Zelle, AppleCash, CashApp, all major credit and debit cards, and AppleCash. Cash is acceptable if the appointment is in-person. We do no longer accept checks. Payment for parties represented by counsel is due at the end of the session. For unrepresented parties, a deposit equal to the minimum fee for the mediator is due upon booking and you will receive an invoice to pay on credit card or Venmo. Non-payment of the booking deposit may result in canceling the appointment. Please see my cancellation policy below.
How Long is a Mediation Session: When you book your appointment, you can select a half-day appointment and the mediator will set aside up to 4 hours for your case that day. If you select a full-day, the mediator will set aside up to 8 hours for your case that day. Unless there are only limited issues, normally, most mediation sessions run between 3 and 8 hours, so chose a full-day if you are unsure, and be sure and plan your day without other conflicts. Follow up sessions can be made as needed.
What to Bring to Mediation: It is helpful that the parties come to mediation with all documentation that may assist in resolving the issues (different for each case) such as contracts, court documents, proof/evidence, financial declarations, pay stubs, W2s, tax returns, bank statements, retirement account statements, debt statements, appraisals on home or vehicles, and lists of all personal property.
Mediation Format - Separate Rooms: You can relax. It is not as stressful as you think. We will be meeting in separate rooms (even on ZOOM) unless all involved (including the mediator) agree to meet together. Each party may bring one support person if desired (usually your attorney if you are represented. If you do plan on bringing a support person with you, or having any other person present (in the same room or within the hearing or view of the Zoom meeting), you will need to email the name and email of the support person attending, and the support person will need to sign the agreement to mediate prior to being able to be present.
